I talked about logo designs in the past and how vital it is for bloggers to have some unique logo that would somehow express their brand in the internet. This doesn’t just apply to niche bloggers but applies to every blogger out there. Most of the people that I know have their own customized logo even though they’re not really ‘in the game’ of fame and making money. That said, its almost impossible to have a blog without a logo these days.
In my previous post, I mentioned the recent design overhaul in this blog but I have not really mentioned the logo change that was made. Actually, the current logo right now is still not complete and in fact, it was drafted by me really. 🙂 However, its easy to take note that the incomplete logo change was very far from the cartoonish ones that I have used in the past.
Logo Simplicity
Right now I am striving for simplicity in logo. I understand that simplicity can somehow overlap with dullness but then, either way people will think either way and it largely depends on their background and who they are. And as mentioned above, I would be moving away from using cartoonish logos and might even just prefer a text-based logo.
A good designer named David Airey has produced some of the best yet simplest logo that I’ve seen and you can look at his portfolio to know what I’m talking about.
Simplicity perhaps is the key and this is where everything begins. Other factors like logo flexibility, timeliness are also definitely important but that comes after the first factor.
New MelvinBlog Logo
As mentioned I don’t still have the time and idea in regards to the new logo for this blog. Perhaps it might not even be a priority at all for me. But whenever it becomes, I feel like the next logo is going to be the last logo that shall be used in this blog. 🙂
Right now I still have to decide whether I would like it to be strictly text-based or incorporate some logo along with text for better branding. And so far, the only idea that comes to mind when it comes to this is the doshdosh logo. Or perhaps not. However, one sure thing is that I would like my next logo to have that kind of concept (simple small logo, then text). For me, that’s what makes a good blog logo.

A good blog logo design should be simple and special design that communicates the core meaning of the website to its visitors. I agree with you. Simple and elegant logo.
