Guess What, My PR is 0 Again!

by Melvin · Sep 13, 2008

Just woke up this morning and well upon looking at the toolbar of my firefox, it stated that I got a pr0 rankings anew. I immediately head on to my SEOMOZ account and indeed my blog has became a pr0 just a couple of hours ago..

Let’s face it the pagerank on toolbars is something a lot of people building links are always looking at. Although, it doesn’t make much sense and the real PR algo is what counts, it still makes sense to have a fair overall ranking. Back to the PR update, its strange because I have never done any paid post and all links and banners ads here are nofollowed so I’m not passing the PR juice. I don’t think I have done black hat link building stuffs or so… Hmm. what do you think?

I checked my site and it is still on the pagerank!

Also I said u to remove those scraped content auto blog back links.. But u were quiet contented with that! Now you have the results of allowing spam blogs linkback…

That can be a reason, another may be someone is playing with the blog, submittin to wrong websites or doing porn/illegal activity with a link to ur blog..

I agree with Rockstar… I think you were too lenient with trackbacks. I know you have a custom algo for comments to accept and to not. You might want to recheck it and dont just overlook with those trackbacks. Many people think all trackbacks are genuine so they just approve it allover. And last thing, is I think the pepperjam posts look like paid post and if it is, I’m not sure if the links are nofollowed.

Seems that there’s really an update. I’ve seen some thread in digital point this past few days about pr update. I’m still PR zero HAHA

My other blog which gained a PR 3 about two months ago is still having its rank. Mind the fact that I did not do any promoting or link building.

No, actually I remove scraped content from my blog! They are kinda so many so maybe I overlooked some of them. Akismet really doesn’t perform well on my blog! One thing I will check again, thanks mate!

Maybe its really because of trackbacks.. With regards to PJN posts I don’t Google worries on it. I mean its an affiliate link and Google won’t even process it and put many questions and besides it isn’t really a paid post

Google is at it again , its about quality link backs. If you monitor your link backs and approve only quality content it will be beneficial to your blog in the next update…Link build with quality sites is the essence of PR

Same here. Didn’t notice that there was an update coming already. I guess I’m really not caring about PR as days go by. 🙁

I’ve never been too concerned about my page rank, but reading the comments here, I see how important it is to make sure we don’t let “bad” trackbacks slip through.

Yeah if you link back to a site Google has nuked, then you’ll get punished.. I think that has become my case here

You can also try posting a few of your posts at ezine articles, I get good backlinks from sites from time to time who publish them on their sites.

Dont worry man. Google snatched my PR a while back too but it doesn’t affect my traffic or the amount of money I can generate so just keep doing what youre doing. I hope Google realizes that!
