Internet Marketing

What Niche to Dominate (Doing a Research)

by Melvin · Jun 29, 2008

This is the first part of the series Niche Marketing (or whatever name you may call it) which I will be discussing this month up to July. Everything stated here is based on my experience and WILL NOT guarantee anything. However you can always put you’re views on it and I’ll be glad to know it.

One of the first things to do when you try out affiliate marketing is to make a simple research on what product to promote. Though it may sound very easy, the truth is, it is REALLY easy. Many of us do our research differently. But here I am going to show how I do mine.

So before can even start affiliate marketing, you need first to find products to promote. You’ll be needing to narrow down your choices of what niche you are going to promote. You have to find out what is hot, what people are exactly looking about and what they are prepared to buy. The best thing about the world wide web is that it gives is us a free market research. So what I’m talking about here is 43things.com

43things.com is one of the better sites for marketers like us. This is where people put things that they want, things that they crave for.  The thing here is that if people desperately want it, they are willing to pay for it.  43things.com operates on what is called tagging system. The tags there vary. Some are written big, some are underlined, others are small.

Any of the tags can be promoted. It just depends on what you feel suits you more. You can put up a list of the tags and you can narrow down and promote. The bigger and more bold the tag, the higher the number of people who are demanding information. It’s always advisable to promote anything outside internet marketing (at least that’s what I feel and do). You can do it very easy just be focused.

Another great tool is Yahoo Answers! Members there post public questions. All can certainly answer the question but at the end only one answer can be said the best one. The whole point of this from a marketer’s perspective is that you can look through the archives of questions, and find questions that are being asked on a regular basis. It all helps to give you an overview of the type of topics people need information on, as well as narrowing it down to specifics if there are multiple entries of the same question. Answer a question that appears over and over and you have an insane hot report on your hands.

The last thing is looking for stats. One great example of an affiliate program that gives stats is Clickbank. Clickbank is very popular (that’s why I don’t use it). You can browse Clickbank and look for your selected niche and the products under it. There you can easily see the best sellers, high converting products and distinguish them for crap products. There are many information provided as well such as how much you are going to paid, tools they provide and so on.

So that’s it. Of course others are common sense so you can be able to do it yourself. Just remember that there isn’t such a thing as perfect. Research is very important and if you’ve done it properly then there will be a demand.

Affiliate Marketing Is A Very Green Pasture

by Melvin · Jun 9, 2008

Sorry for the title, I don’t really create great titles and I don’t know how to. 😉 So tomorrow, I’ll be back in class so more probably the next post will be a little sooner. Today I am going to say something about affiliate marketing. No, I won’t define nor discuss the basics of it or maybe even tell you something useful about it. I just am going to tell you guys that affiliate marketing can make you filthy rich. Yes I know you guys already know it but for some people out there who haven’t tried affiliate marketing yet then maybe you shouldn’t.

When I have first entered this I though it works on a CPC basis but it does not (I know I’m a fool). Well I am just surprised that many people do not actually know that affiliate marketing is a very lucrative business. Maybe you feel guys like Shoemoney and Chow and some others make big bucks blogging but the truth is they make even more and more being affiliates. I myself is an affiliate. I use many types of affiliate program and I suggest you too. In this field you really have to learn a lot and being creative helps you more. But to be specific I so much like Commission Junction and PepperJam. They have made great conversions for me. If you are wondering what product am I promoting, I embark a lot in a very easy way of dating. Ringtones are great but the market was very competitive now and dating wasn’t that much.

my account...

So how do you make money w/affiliate marketing? Two things come to my mind when asked about this question, outsourcing and leveraging (go and see wikipedia). I can say that I learned those things along the way. I’m not saying I’m earning a lot from affiliate marketing but what I say is aff.marketing has been my biggest money maker… Basically I start by promoting products, then buying about 30 domains and then hire someone to make me a salespage. That’s it, then some adwords (I highly recommend Aaron Wall SEO Book, the best by far!) Last words, if you are gonna go and try affiliate marketing then patience is the key. Learning is your main weapon and failure will be your guardian angel(i know it’s corny).

Btw, tune in for the next few days because I would be giving an ebook about how a newbie can make $500 per month on affiliate marketing. It costs i forgot and I’m not really sure if I want to share it for free. 😉

My Check Is Close To Expiring

by Melvin · Jun 8, 2008

more niche check

Like what I have said before, aside from blogging I really do lots of affiliate marketing. I spend my blog’s earnings to it and at the end of the day I just hoped that my investment makes sense. So I recall last April something I got a check from MoreNiche affiliate program. The check isn’t really big, it only amounted to $129 and I worked for it in 15 day, yeah 15 days only. Actually the product that I have promoted there was something about poker and gambling which really converts well.

So back to the check, I think a check expires in 3 months right? So initially to be able to withdraw checks in Philippines, you have to open a dollar account in a bank. The minimum deposit is $300. For some it’s not a problem, for me it’s a huge problem. Why? Because first, $300 is not a small amount, at least for me. Then all the payments that I’ve got go directly to my paypal account and some by wire transfers. Paypal amounts were converted to peso upon withdrawing while wire transfer also works the same way. So the first solution I have got is selling peso to dollars. That time I was thinking that maybe I shouldn’t because if I do, I can’t spend my money to buy things that I need/want.

Months passed by and the check is now close to getting expired. I’m in the tough situation right now because I don’t have money at this point. Everything was re-invested back and some were spent. I think it’s really my fault; I didn’t see this coming and haven’t realized that I have a check in hand. But wait I still have one solution. Maybe I can ask my mom for a $300 (13,000 in pesos) and just pay her afterwards. After all, I learned another lesson.

Do you sign under affiliate links?

by Melvin · Jun 1, 2008

So being in affiliate marketing for about close a year now, I can say that I really have learned a lot. From cloaking links, redirecting, or hiding to API’s and some programming and PHP skills.

So getting back to affiliate links, we, internet marketers are tech-savvy enough to know whether we are signing under a refer string or not. On the flipside, we are doing everything to make people believe they are buying things directly not knowing that they are on an affiliate link. How about you do you sign under affiliate links? Well, I just am very somehow disappointed about those who do not sign under links. Why? Because I always feel that a person has to always get compensated for giving put something really really useful. I have a feeling that sometimes those morons are arrogant to say “do you think I don’t know that’s an aff. link? I’m not gonna sign under you” Wtf, who does not know what’s an affiliate link?

For me, if I really feel that information has helped me so much then I would gratefully sign under the link. After all what’s the cost of signing under a person?
