Sponsored Review’s Publishers Are Retarded (OverPriced)

by Melvin · Aug 20, 2008

I was surfing at the Sponsored Reviews one time and had a great look at all blogs filtered by the price of the review in descending order. I was amazed to see that many blogs listed there are overpriced and have even gone beyond $9,000 for a single review. The bad thing is that the blogs are more like junk blogs or some others have really bad rankings. Take a look: (click for larger images)

sponsored reviews retarded

Well I have about 4 blogs there and I just recently included this blog in it. I don’t really serious aboutmelvin blog taking reviews there, I just placed mine there for added exposure. For me a review is very painful and I cannot really endure it that’s why I let my cousin do it for me. But well as many people always say, paid post is one of the easier way to get some money and startup income. I can say I pretty made over a hundred there just this year.

Back again to those overpriced oxymorons, I don’t really have anything against them. I mean I can say it’s easy to game the advertisers in sponsoredreviews. I remember one time I even had a bid accepted at my multiply blog so I guess advertisers are lenient about spending money in there. Maybe someday If i need a big money so hard, then I’ll try my luck on scraping them. ๐Ÿ˜‰

That is an insane amount of money for a blog review. I remember when I first started blogging, I thought the $500 that JohnChow charged was retarded. Now this is not as big as a number, but still. I don’t think I’d ever pay over $500 for a review.

That’s why my reviews are very cheap and affordable. Currently it only costs $30 to purchase a review on my blog. Not too bad eh? :p.

WTF! $9k for a review on a blogspot blog? I haven’t visited the blog but if a review is worth nine grand, then it better be a really great blog…

Does a review on a site where you’ve to pay for them work? The way I’d see it is if you pay 500 for a review, you can also pay 600 for a good review and 1000 for a glowing one… see the problem?

Thats pretty lame. SponsoredReviews lost my respect ever since they started allowing advertisers to counter offers resulting in offers that were about 20% of your initial bid. A bit ridiculous in my opinion but I’m not using them anymore so it doesn’t matter but I agree with you about the fact that it does get you more exposure.

@enkay, yeah it is… i dont usually have the time to bid but my cousin does it for me… well sometimes they make a counter a do a minimum and its bullsh*t
@rockstar, heheh, I am lazy to do a sales pitch so i just copied it from someone.. ๐Ÿ˜‰ย ย

THAT IS SO RIDICULOUS, are they serious about those prices? Some of them were not even close to being all that to charge so much. I for one would never pay that much for any review, that’s just silly!

I personally wouldn’t pay for any review really. The only time I would pay for a review is if I made like $500 from Google AdSense one month.

I wonder if a review on a popular site such as John Chow would get you any traffic?

Funny stuff man, I wonder if people are actually paying those prices? I don’t know man, that seems a little far fetched but..oh well. lol, if that’s how they wanna roll ๐Ÿ™‚

Direct traffic from the review isn’t the main point here.ย  I think the main point is permanent, one-way links.ย  Would you rather pay $100 for a permanent, contextual, one way link with anchor text that you choose, or $20 per month for the same link?ย  In 5 months the permanent link comes out way ahead.

I don’t participate in sponsored reviews myself, but I definitely see the benefit.

For traffic you are much better off writing your own blog
because many of the ones there are badly written , but hey I guess if they get you traffic thats ok.

Thanks for the post, we have removed those overpriced blogs, although no advertiser in their right mind would ever by one of them. It’s still good to keep our DB clean.

Should we go ahead and remove this blog too since you don’t plan on ever doing any reviews? ๐Ÿ™‚
